Liminal Performance Group: About

Liminal Spaces

Liminal has presented performances and installations in many unusual spaces over the years. Our projects inevitably respond to the specificity of space. It is a unique part of the live experience. No doubt we will have many interesting locations to respond to in the future.

Of course, we have seen our share of warehouses, galleries, black boxes and theaters, but our favorite spaces include a turn-of-the-century Oddfellows ballroom, the parking garage of Michael Graves’ Portland Building, the now-defunct queer dance club Panorama, the top floor of Portland’s Dekum Building and a chinese restaurant.

So you want to know what Liminal is?

We create live performance installations that intermingle theatre, the fine arts and technology. What you choose to observe at a Liminal event will determine the kind of experience you will have. If you desire a dramatic plot, you will discover one. If you want to see the sublime aspects of everyday life, observe us closely. If you are drawn to the complexities of language, then listen to our words. If you want to hear new sound and music, well, we’ve composed a thing or two. And if you just want to take it all in, there’s that option too.

It’s safe to say that no two people observe our work in quite the same way.
