Amanda Boekelheide is Liminal’s movement director and a member of the acting company. Amanda leads rehearsals and conducts trainings and workshops in mutual physically and articulated physicality for the ensemble. She received a 2003 Portland Theater Critics award for her movement direction in Three Plays Five Lives. Amanda recently performed in Classic Stage Company’s critically acclaimed off-Broadway production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters.
Amanda is studying for an MFA in Acting at Columbia University and received her BA in theatre from Pitzer College in Los Angeles and Marymount College in London. She also studied Decroux-based physical theatre at L’ecole de Mime Corporeal Dramatique in London and worked intensively with Thomas Leabhart for three years as a student and assistant. She has studied with a number of ensemble theaters including the SITI Company in New York and Gardzienice in Poland. From 1999-2003, Amanda served as a faculty member in Theater at The Catlin Gable School in Portland. She currently lives above a Crown Fried Chicken in Harlem.
